Top officials of the financial sectors from 10 members ASEAN countries are gathering in Bali on April 7 for a closed-door session to discuss foreign investment, food security and the building of the ASEAN Economic Community.
The closed-door session is part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Finance Ministers’ Meeting taking place in Indonesia for April 7-8.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Managing Director of the World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati and representatives from the International Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank are scheduled to attend the plenary session on April 8.
Participants will discuss and give proposals relating to handling emerging economic issues as well as the plan to establish a single market in the region.
Speaking in Jakarta, Indonesian Finance Minister Agus Martowardpjo affirmed that as ASEAN Chair 2011, Indonesia is interested in the capital flow into ASEAN countries, food security, taxation and the process of building the ASEAN Economic Community./.
