The Government of Bangladesh announced on November 23 that its country and the neighbouring Myanmar have agreed on returning Rohingya Muslim refugees in two months.

The fled people can begin returning home within two months, according to a statement from the Bangladesh foreign ministry after the talks between Minister A.H. Mahmood Ali and Myanmar State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi in Nay Pyi Daw, Myanmar.

Earlier the same day, the two nations signed a deal to return hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims who fled to Bangladesh, following a three-phase solution proposed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Myanmar official Myint Kyaing said the country was ready to receive the Rohingya as soon as possible after receiving personal information forms of the returners.

At least 620,000 Rohingya people fled into Bangladesh to avoid violence in Rakhine state since gunmen attacked 24 police posts and broke into a military outpost in Rakhine on August 25.
