Being proactive to prevent and control natural disasters from afar and early

Early May 24, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee chaired a conference to review the local task on natural disaster prevention and control - search and rescue in 2022 and the three-year implementation of the emulation movement “Being proactive to combat natural disasters, building up a safe community in the period of 2020-2025”.

In 2022, the province directed relevant units and localities to set up plans to deal with each type of natural disaster and situation while mobilizing all support resources to minimize damage. The whole province had 15 natural disasters, killing 1 person, damaging 27 houses and causing damage to traffic, irrigation, fisheries and agricultural production in many places, with the total value of property damage estimated at about VND2.14 billion...

Addressing the conference, Mr. Dung suggested units and localities to effectively implement provincial People's Committee Chairman’s Directive No.08 dated May 4, 2023 on strengthening national disaster prevention and control, search and rescue in 2023 to be proactive to prevent and combat national disasters from afar and early, minimizing damage caused by them. Depending on the actual conditions, they need to invest in equipment and improve skills for forces under the “4-on-site” motto to be proactive in all situations from afar and early while strengthening the inspection of reservoirs and areas at the risk of landslides in the province.

On this occasion, provincial People's Committee awarded the certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 5 individuals with typical achievements in the emulation movement “Being proactive to combat natural disasters, building up a safe community” in 2022.
