The three-day forum, which started Sunday, attracted more than 2,000 government, business and academic leaders from around the globe to attend the meeting, focusing on three key issues this year: exploring the root source of global economy uncertainty, seeking reform and transformation, and Asia's sustainable development.
The forum introduces a wide range of topics, including the eurozone debt crises, employment and growth, the reform of the international monetary system and the strategic breakthrough of Asian manufacturing. A non-governmental and non-profit international organization founded in 2001, BFA has been committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals.
Making his speech at the opening ceremony, Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said adjustment and change was a general trend of the world, and China is ready along with other Asian countries to reach a consensus to work together to respond to challenges, overcome difficulties, and to jointly promote the health of Asian sustainable development.
Li Keqiang said that China is part of the Asian family; China’s economy is inextricably linked with the Asian economies. China adheres to economic and social coordinated and sustainable scientific development, and will also contribute to sustainable development throughout Asia. In recent years, China’s economy continues to move in the expected direction of macro regulation and control to achieve stable and rapid economic growth and continuous improvement. China’s economic fundamentals are good, the development of the situation has not changed, nor have conditions to maintain China’s long-term stable and rapid economic development.
Li reiterated that China will unswervingly follow the road of peaceful development and is committed to creating a peaceful and harmonious international and regional environment, and will never seek hegemony. It will insist on good neighbour and friendly policies forever among Asian countries, making good neighbours and good partners with efforts to promote the development of Asia and the world toward prosperity, peace, harmony and progress.
Started in 2001, the BFA has become an annual conference which is committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries ever closer to their development goals.
