Cambodian People's Party Central Committee convenes 45th meeting

The Central Committee of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) held its 45th meeting in Phnom Penh on January 25.

The two-day meeting, chaired by CPP President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and its Honourary President Samdech Heng Samrin, is being attended by 3,555 central and local delegates from across the country.

Heng Samrin reviewed the country’s situation over the past year, praising the efforts of the 7th-term Government in its administration, with many goals outlined in the Political Platform for Nation Building and Defence for the 2023-2028 period achieved, amidst a world full of changes.

According to the leader, the Royal Government has actively identified and implemented an action programme and the Pentagonal Strategy-phase 1. As a result, several significant achievements were made in 2024, such as firmly safeguarding peace and political stability, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; maintaining social security, order, and safety; ensuring the stability of people’s livelihoods; and achieving a 6% economic growth rate.

Additionally, the executive and legislative bodies worked together to enhance and expand diplomatic activities, strengthen foreign relations, and successfully host four major international events in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap province.

He requested participants to focus on the key items in the agenda, with focus on the discussion and approval of the draft report on the Party's work in 2024 and tasks for 2025, as well as the process of supplementary elections to consolidate the Standing Board of the CPP Central Committee.

The CPP has ruled the Southeast Asian country since 1979. In the general election in July 2023, it won 120 out of the 125 seats in the National Assembly./.
