Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has spoken highly of the significant progress in Vietnam-India strategic partnership, especially in politics, economics, national defence and security, science, technology, education and training.
At a May 25 reception for Indian Deputy Foreign Minister Anil Wadhwa during the latter’s on-going visit to Vietnam, Hai said Vietnam and India have become important trade partners with two-way trade turnover hitting US$6 billion in 2014. Many projects carried out by India in Vietnam with an investment capital of billions of US dollars have paid off and brought about high economic efficiency.
Hai said he was deeply impressed by India’s achievements in its construction and development process, including the ‘Made in India’ and ‘building 100 smart cities’ programmes.
He hoped that the two countries will deepen strategic partnership, enhance bilateral cooperation mechanism, effectively implement signed agreements and closely cooperate at regional and international forums.
For his part, Deputy FM Anil Wadhwa appreciated the two countries’ effective cooperation for mutual benefits in recent times. He urged the Vietnamese Government to create a niche for a Vietnam- India direct air route, sea transport cooperation and implementation of projects in industry, infrastructure, garment, information technology and education and training.
