Malaysian PM calls for peace, unity among Muslims

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak expressed his hope that Muslims in general and those living in Malaysia in particular will take the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday to promote peace and unity as Prophet Muhammad said.

On his blog at NajibRazak.com, the PM said if Muslims choose to practice hostile politics, it is possible that the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims in the country will be worse.

According to the leader, Muslims needs to forgive each other for the sake of unity, which will inspire the spirit of forgiveness in others regardless to their beliefs and ideologies.

In the context of conflicts among Muslims all over the world, it is very difficult to say that they are winning, he underlined.

The situation is getting worse as some outsiders regard Muslims as the source of hatred and violence despite the fact that the over-1,400-year-old religion always considers peace and unity as the best solution to conflict resolution, he said.

Only the great souls can forgive and so are Islamic followers, hence they should choose forgiveness instead of going against it for personal interests, he affirmed.
