NAM foreign ministers issue Bali joint declaration

The Foreign Ministers of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states have jointly issued a Bali Commemorative Declaration to pay tribute to the founders of NAM and former leaders of its member states.

The document was issued at the 16th Ministerial Conference and the 50th Commemorative Meeting of NAM in Bali, Indonesia on May 25.

According to the declaration, the FMs stressed the need to enhance the role of NAM as a key driving force in addressing international issues of common concern to its members, as well as issues that promoted unity and dealt with global issues by further consolidating common agreement among members.

They reiterated their commitment to strengthening collective actions of NAM and enhancing its leading role in defending and promoting the interests of developing countries.

The declaration also listed a series of goals and principles that NAM would promote in the future, including goals of achieving a safer and more secure world, rejecting unilateral sanctions imposed on NAM countries, and rejecting actions aimed at unconstitutional change of governments or attempts at regime change.

It also affirmed Palestinian freedom, the expansion and deepening of South-South cooperation, as well as close coordination with the G7 developing countries and China, and combating terrorism and transnational organised crime.
