Portugal assigns ambassador to ASEAN

The Ambassador of Portugal to Indonesia, Joaquim Alberto de Soura Moreira de Lemos, presented his letter of credential on June 19 to Secretary-General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh, thus assuming his post as the Ambassador of Portugal to ASEAN.

Secretary-General Minh stressed that Ambassador Lemos could play an important role in fostering cooperation between ASEAN and Portugal as well as within the framework of ASEAN-EU cooperation. He encouraged Ambassador Lemos to explore practical cooperative activities that could be undertaken between the two sides in the areas of mutual interest.

Ambassador Lemos stressed his commitment to work with ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and Portugal as well as ASEAN and EU as a whole.

Ambassador Lemos is the Second Ambassador of Portugal to ASEAN since the entry into force of the ASEAN Charter in December 2008.
