The Vietnamese and Russian foreign ministers have agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation in offshore oil and gas exploration, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on March 11 in a prepared statement.
In the statement, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said cooperation in the fuel and energy sector has long been one of the important pillars of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Consistent with this long standing cooperation, Ms Zakharova said the two strategic partners will continue to expand joint exploration efforts.
The statement came shortly after Russian energy giant Rosneft began exploratory drilling of an offshore exploration well in Vietnam in early March.
