Binh Duong organizes 2024 business conference

In the first nine months of 2024, despite some basic advantages, the global situation continued facing complex and unpredictable challenges. The prolonged war in Ukraine, escalating conflicts in Gaza and the Middle East, intense strategic competition between major countries, slowing growth in large economies, high inflation, and reduced consumer demand in major traditional markets such as the U.S., Europe, and China have all posed significant difficulties.

In the face of these challenges, since early this year, provincial People's Committee has issued plans and documents to implement the Government's Resolutions, directives from ministries and central sectors, provincial Party Committee, People's Council on the local socio-economic development plan for 2024. As a result, business activities in the province have shown positive changes and social welfare has been ensured. The socio-economic situation for the first nine months of 2024 saw positive outcomes, with political stability and social security maintained. Particularly, the production and business activities of enterprises were improved, with key export sectors gradually recovering and export orders returning (expected by Q1, 2025).

To promptly address business difficulties, the province established a steering committee and a working group, regularly listening to and actively gathering information about the production and business activities of enterprises and investors. Since early this year, the steering committee has held 19 meetings, solving 130 out of 139 business-related issues, including real estate project concerns.

Additionally, the province holds annual conferences for discussions with industries’ associations and domestic investors. Recently, provincial People’s Committee has organized a meeting to address challenges faced by enterprises operating in the province.

Previously, province-based industries’associations sent questions to relevant agencies and departments. Provincial Department of Industry and Trade compiled all 7 questions and answers from agencies related to interest rates, foreign trade promotion, fairs, industrial promotion and issues of provincial Natural Resources-Environment sector, Police Agency, Science and Technology, Social Insurance...

At the conference, representatives from the associations raised 24 additional issues, asking for provincial People’s Committee and other authorities to find solutions for challenges related to fire prevention-fighting regulations, environmental impact assessments, land-use purposes, land prices for production, wharves, unresolved construction projects, tax incentives and investment attraction in the tourism industry, developing river tourism and craft villages. In addition, it is necessary to further promote logistics industry and encourage scientific topics for other industries...

Provincial Party Committee Secretary instructed relevant departments and district-level People’s Committee to work together to resolve enterprises’ difficulties. He emphasized the importance of supporting enterprises on both exisiting and current issues, working together with the spirit of cooperation. Relevant sectors must be dedicated and efficient, providing a favorable investment environment, with streamlined infrastructure facilities and smart administration. Handling work must have an implementation roadmap, with completion time and drastic spirit, especially for land, fire prevention-fighting, access to capital and the environment; must not be regulated differently from the law...

An overview of the conference

He also urged industries’ associations to strictly implement legal regulations, avoid harassment and corruption in dealings with State agencies and creating a transparent investment environment. A highlight of the conference was provincial leaders taking time to listen to suggestions and recommendations by industries’ associations and enterprises.

Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee also directed all-level authorities and sectors to continue addressing recommendations from industries’associations and businesses. Provincial Department of Industry and Trade will take the lead in organizing dialogues between industries’ associations and relevant departments to provide guidance and thoroughly resolve issues in a timely manner, supporting enterprises in maintaining stable and sustainable activities.

The province’s industrial production index (IIP) for the first nine months of 2024 increased by 6.31% compared to the same period in 2023. Province-based industrial parks’total construction investment in industrial parks reached VND 4.278 trillion, up 38.1% from the previous year. Province-based industrial parks leased 53.88 hectares of land, bringing the total leased area to 7,080.76 hectares, with a 93.77% occupancy rate. Foreign direct investment reached US$ 1.045 billion (87% of the province's total), with US$ 1.6 billion disbursed, US$ 27 billion in revenue and US$ 18.2 billion in export turnover, accounting for 71.1% of the province's total.
