10 socio-economic events of Binh Duong in 2012

On Oct. 27, 2012, the State President Truong Tan Sang paid a working visit to Binh Duong province to learn and steer local socio-economic development situation in the first 10 months of 2012. In addition, the State President met with businesses and local judiciary agencies.

The State President Truong Tan Sang assessed "Despite the economic difficulties, Binh Duong still maintains a fair growth pace and sets out good policies of social insurance for laborers, especially housing program for workers and low incomers. This is really a bright example for other localities nationwide to learn experiences".

2.Implementing the Central Resolution 4 (term XI) on "Some current urgent issues of the current Party building", the province launched learning and research the Resolution across grassroot levels.   Collectives and individuals of Binh Duong provincial party committee's standing board implement criticism in line with the Central Resolution 4.

3.After over one year of implementing the Politburo's Instruction No.03 on spurring the movement of learning and following Ho Chi Minh's moral examples, most of agencies and units throughout the province have applied contents of the movement into their meetings, contributing to improve the quality of party cells and educating political thought and lifestyle and morality for party members, employees and people.

4.The contest of "learning about Binh Duong provincial party committee's history in the 1975-2010 period" received nearly 54,000 entries. This is a contest accounting for the highest number of entries so far. As s result, the organizing board granted the first prize to Chung Thi Hanh, teacher of Phu Long primary school in Thuan An town. In addition, the organizing board offered 3 second prizes, 6 third prizes and 150 consolidation ones to individuals.

5.On June 27, 2012 at Binh Duong New City, Thu Dau Mot town party committee, People's Committee and Council as well as the town Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held an announcement ceremony on setting up Thu Dau Mot city in line with the Government's Resolution No.11/NQ-CP dated May 2, 2012.   Thu Dau Mot city leaders receive a decision of setting up Thu Dau Mot city.

6.With the figure of US$2.6bil in FDI attraction, Binh Duong led the whole country in attracting FDI in 2012. Of this, the most impressive thing was the US$1.2bil Tokyu Binh Duong urban area project invested by Japan's Tokyu Group. This is considered as the biggest FDI project in the province so far.

7.Binh Duong basically escaped poverty in line with the provincial criteria for the 2011-2012 period. Implementing the new poverty line, the province in early 2011 had 10,882 poor households, accounting for 4.34%. Ending 2012, the province had 3,615 needy families on the provincial poverty line, winning 1.36%. As such, till the end of 2012, the locality basically escaped poverty on the local poverty line for the 2011-2015 period.  The provincial sponsor society for orphans and disabled people and poor patients in cooperation with Di An town charity club grants gift and charity house to a needy household in Ben Cat district.

8.On Dec.31, 2012, Becamex IDC handed apartments under Block A1 of Hoa Loi social house area over laborers. This is the largest scaled social house project in Vietnam that offers accommodations for more than 164,000 people. With the selling prices from VND90mil-140mil per 30sqm apartment, Becamex social house area sets a record of the country's cheapest house price.

9.In the school year of 2011-2012, Binh Duong had 99% of pupils graduating from high schools. Of these, 11 high schools had 100% of pupils graduating high school level, 67.6% of examinees passing university entrance exams, ranking 14th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. Binh Duong was ranked 6th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide at the 8th national Phu Dong Sport Festival 2012.   The provincial People's Committee vice chairman Huynh Van Nhi grants prizes to pupils winning prizes at the 8th national Phu Dong Sport Festival 2012.10.Tennis player Ly Hoang Nam from Becamex Binh Duong tennis center became the youngest player, at just 15, to win a national tennis championship.

The rising young tennis star Ly Hoang Nam moved up 162 spots in the International Tennis Federation (ITF)'s latest junior ranking list. His rise from 276 to 114 was attributed to his good performances in several recent tournaments. Ly Hoang Nam enjoys wage increase and investment from Becamex sponsor.
