11 subjects prioritized for vaccination against Covid-19 in Vietnam

During the complicated Covid-19 epidemic, Ministry of Health has recently issued Decision 1210/QD-BYT on approving the plan to receive, preserve, distribute and use Covid-19 vaccines for 2021-2022 as supported by COVAX Facility. Accordingly, there are 11 groups of subjects that are prioritized for the first Covid-19 vaccination in Vietnam.

The groups of subjects that need vaccinating against Covid-19 are sorted by priority in scenario of the pandemic and the limited supply of vaccines in Vietnam, including:

- Medical staff

- Staff participating in pandemic prevention and control (under all-level steering boards, staff of quarantine area, reporters, etc.)

- Diplomat staff, staff working at customs and border entries

- Military forces

- Public security forces

- Teachers

- People of 65 years of age and higher

- People supplying necessities: airport, transportation, tourism, water and electricity supplying staff, etc.

- People of chronic diseases

- People in need of working, studying, and employing abroad

- People living in areas of the pandemic as designated by the medical status

As of March 30, 2021, based on the published data of Ministry of Health, the number of Covid-19 infected cases nationwide was 2,594, of which, there were 196 cases under treatment, 2,359 cured and 35 deaths (of which the majority had underlying diseases). Currently, the epidemic situation tends to be complicated and unpredictable. The good control of the epidemic situation as well as the approval of the government's plan to vaccinate against Covid-19 for the entire population has helped people feel more secured against the epidemic. However, although the vaccination has begun, people are allowed to be subjective to neglect any precautions because it can make the epidemic outbreak stronger and in more difficult way to control. To protect ourselves and those around us, each of us can take the following precautions:

- Cover your nose and/or mouth on sneezing

- Regularly wash your hands, especially before and after wearing masks, getting out or getting home

- Avoid crowded places and gathering

- Avoid touching surfaces at public places as they could be attached by virus from the infected people

- Keep a distance on social interaction and wear masks on contacting others

- If you feel unhealthy, stay at home. Call the hotline of Ministry of Health at 19009095 or local medical agencies for consultancy. If your test is positive, please follow guidance of Ministry of Health on quarantine and treatment. Please supply medical staff the list of people that you have been in close contact recently

- Observe the 14-day isolation if you return from the place of Covid-19 pandemic or are in contact with any Covid-19 infected people. If you are to stay at home for isolation, please follow guidance of the medical staff.
