141 priests, monks and parishioners volunteer to support the second phase of Covid-19 struggle

On the morning of Sep 12, at St. Joseph's Church (Phu My Ward, Thu Dau Mot City), Provincial Fatherland Front Committee in collaboration with Bishop of Phu Cuong Diocese held a ceremony to send off 141 volunteers, who are priests, monks and parishioners to the second phase of Covid-19 prevention control. Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Van Loc, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; and representatives of the Bishop of Phu Cuong Diocese.

Priests, monks and parishioners of the first phase has successfully completed their tasks, contributing a lot to the disease prevention and control in the province in general, and Tan Uyen Town in particular. In order to continue to join hands for the Covid-19 prevention and control of the province, the Bishop of Phu Cuong Diocese continued to call for priests, monks and parishioners to register for the second phase of voluntary campaign.

Participants of this phase included nearly half of the volunteers of the first phase, and they volunteered to stay at red zones to continue supporting the Covid-19 fighting. The volunteers this time continue to do their tasks in Tan Uyen Town. Tan Uyen Town Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control held a meeting and assigned specific tasks to the volunteers. Earlier, the volunteers were quickly tested by the Provincial Center for Disease Control and got negative test result for Covid-19.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Nguyen Van Loc recognized and appreciated the volunteer spirit of priests, monks and parishioners. He said that besides the medical team, the province is in need of volunteers to assist the disease prevention and control. The province always appreciates the contributions of volunteers, who are not afraid of difficulties and dangers to participate in the disease prevention and control. He also recommended that volunteers always take care of their health and obey the local government's administration and assignment to successfully complete their assigned tasks, join hands with the province to soon control and terminate the disease, bringing life back to a new normal condition.
