As of early March 26, provincial health sector has administered AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for 1,736 people who are frontline forces in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Among 1,736 recipients, 689 had common reactions after the injection. The vaccination was carried out at 11 medical units, including provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, provincial General Hospital, Vietnam Vaccine Corporation (VNVC)’s Binh Duong Vaccination Center and Medical Centers of Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, Bac Tan Uyen, Phu Giao, Ben Cat, Bau Bang, Dau Tieng.
Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of provincial Department of Health said that post-vaccination reactions like rash, pain, swelling, redness at the injection site…are expected and happen with all vaccines, including AstraZeneca vaccine…With the motto of ensuring vaccination safety, the local health sector has fully implemented all steps of the vaccination with the principle of "5 steps", "4 on-site things”, preparing all means for timely treatment. The provincial health sector is still updating and monitoring the health situation of AstraZeneca vaccinated cases. Currently, the supply of Covid-19 vaccine is still limited, so the Government and the Ministry of Health cannot provide it to all people. Initially, people need to continue implementing measures against Covid-19 pandemic in accordance with the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health, especially wear face masks when going out. When the supply of Covid-19 vaccine is abundant, people will be vaccinated free of charge under the national expanded immunization program.
It is known that the Ministry of Health has just issued the Decision No. 1654 / QD-BYT conditionally approving vaccines for urgent needs in Covid-19 prevention and control for Gam-COVID-Vac vaccine ( Sputnik V) of Russia. This is the second Covid-19 vaccine approved by Vietnam so far.
