Early August 25, a working delegation of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) led by Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, a member of the Government's Special Task Force on Covid-19 Prevention and Control in the southern provinces inspected Covid-19 fight in Binh Duong province. Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation, Head of provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control together with members of provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders of a number of relevant departments and sectors received the delegation.
Determined to stamp out the pandemic
Reporting to the MND’s delegation, Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee said that since the fourth pandemic outbreak, Binh Duong has recorded 77,053 cases of Covid-19. The number of patients being treated is 15,163. So far, there have been 32,672 patients given the all-clear and 639 deaths. The province has also strengthened its capacity of collection and treatment with 23 treatment facilities and 19,127 beds. Currently, the whole province has 35,658 people in concentrated isolation areas, 130,223 people in 1,289 blockade areas. Among them, there are 8,655 F1 cases and 3,326 F0 cases under home isolation.

The province has also rapidly deployed large-scale testing to "separate" F0 cases from the community with PCR testing capacity of 18,500 to 23,500 samples a day. Reportedly, the province conducted large-scale testing for the first phase on nearly 1.3 million people, detecting 12,667 Covid-19 suspected cases. In the second phase, the province collected samples for testing on more than 1 million people and there were more than 26,000 positive cases. Provincial Center for Disease Control also took PCR samples for 113,628 workers at 130 companies in industrial parks, detecting 323 positive cases. To protect the "green zones" and green the "red zones", the province has so far administered 754,124 doses of Covid-19 vaccine, including 721,082 first shots and 33,042 second shots.
Binh Duong has so far had 1,885 enterprises registering to implement the "3 on-site" and "1 road, 2 locations" production models with 272,851 employees. Among them, 325 enterprises with 85,503 employees have applied for temporary suspension, due to having F0 cases. Besides, the province has paid more attention to social welfare, ensuring the supply of necessities for people and workers hit by Covid-19 pandemic.
MND to support Binh Duong
After hearing the province's quick report on the developments of Covid-19 pandemic, Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien and members of the delegation together with provincial leaders discussed measures to be implemented in the near future to improve the effectiveness of the local Covid-19 prevention and control. The key issue discussed at the event was the assistance in terms of means and equipment, especially human resources for the local Covid-19 prevention and control from the Government, ministries and central sectors.
It is forecasted that in the next 2 weeks, the number of F0 cases in the province will increase by 50,000 because the province is focusing on conducting large-scale testing for the third time. The figure will bring the total number of Covid-19 cases in the province to over 120,000. Therefore, the province has requested the Government, ministries, central sectors to support additional 50 resuscitation doctors, 50 specialist doctors, 100 experienced emergency resuscitation nurses; 100 nurses and technicians; 10 invasive ventilators and 20 non-invasive ventilators; 4 portable X-ray machines; 100 portable SPO2 meters for the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Loi said that Binh Duong is implementing a 15-day "locked and frozen" period for 15 wards in the "dense red zones" in accordance with to the principle of around-the-clock lockdown, calling on people to “stay where they are”, absolutely isolate homes from homes, people from people … The province has urgently coordinated forces to the "red zones" to ensure security, order and social safety; inspect the strict implementation of regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control; rearrange and expand isolation areas to receive F0 cases through screening; arrange mobile medical stations for 11 "locked and frozen" wards. The province has also supplied goods to people at their demand for daily necessaries; continued "greening" localities under the 3-green model: "Green factories, green lodging facilities, green workers”…
The province is also focusing on taking care of Covid-19 patients, treating those with severe symptoms to limit the mortality rate; ensuring adequate medical supplies at Covid-19 treatment facilities; following up and treating Covid-19 patients in accordance with to the treatment plan of the Ministry of Health. The province also ensures the supply of essential goods, continues giving timely support to people in difficult and vulnerable circumstances. The province is speeding up the implementation of support for those facing difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic under the Government's Resolution No. 68 and the province's support policies while strengthening the assurance of people's safety, security and order, and social safety and strictly handling violations on Covid-19 prevention and control, especially acts of posting false information, causing confusion in public opinion.
Concluding at the meeting, Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien acknowledged the efforts by Binh Duong province in Covid-19 prevention and control. The province is facing the complicated developments of the pandemic when the number of F0 cases has increased rapidly. The delegation also recorded the proposals of the province to report them to the Government. Initially, the MND will mobilize 2,000 soldiers for the province to serve the local fight against the pandemic. The MND will also mobilize 50 mobile clinics to support 11 "red zone" localities of the province and 15 ambulances to serve the local Covid-19 prevention and control.
Provincial People's Committee has assigned provincial Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with focal units to supply food and foodstuffs for more than 719,000 people in 11 “locked and frozen” localities with each bag of necessities worth VND 50,000 per person per day. In addition, the province has spent nearly VND760billion on supporting VND1.4 million people from central and local policies.
