Mr. Tran Van Thay, Director of Department of Transportation, cum Deputy Standing Head of Traffic Safety Board of the province, informed that the program “2012 - year of traffic safety” was proposed aiming at improving awareness of the public and responsibilities of all-level leaders.
He also stressed on communication and education on the mass media and other various communicative means to improve awareness of social order and traffic safety.
Colonel Nguyen Hoang Thao, Deputy Director of Provincial Public Security, proposed to limit transportation of heavy trucks on peak hours through streets of Le Hong Phong, Thu Khoa Huan, DT746, 22/12, and DT743 to reduce traffic accidents. Thao also proposed to intensify and punishments against illegal passenger transportation stations. The traffic police force will contact heavy truck owners to ask for their commitments to traffic safety. Action plans will also be extended to patrol units .
Senior Colonel Lieutenant Tran Minh Huu, Chief of Traffic Police Office, proposed to construct reasonable road dividers and signs to facilitate safety of traffic; however, he inquired for coordinated operation of sectors and departments to reduce traffic accidents by 5-10%.
