21st National Youth Informatics Competition promotes passion for IT among youths

This morning, July 31, provincial Youth Union officially kicks off the 21st National Youth Informatics Competition. Binh Duong Daily had an interview with Pham Hong Thang, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union to know more about the competition. Mr.Thang said that this year’s competition has absorbed 249 candidates from 49 provinces and cities with 100 entries.

-It is known that the National Youth Informatics Competition has been organized since 1995. Could you tell us about its significance?

This is the largest informatics competition for pupils from primary, secondary and high schools nationwide. It is co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Television and Vietnam Informatics Association.

The competition aims to promote a passion for information technology (IT) among youths, discover and train young IT talents, contributing to developing human resources in the field…

-What are the contents of this year’s competition?

This year’s competition has attracted participation of 249 candidates nationwide, the highest figure so far. The contestants will be divided into five tables, including table A for primary school students, table B for secondary school students, table C for high school students, table D for software creation and table E for programming hardware.

Noticeably, there are many products with good quality, creativeness and high reality at the competition.

-How has provincial Youth Union prepared for the 21st National Youth Informatics Competition?

Provincial Youth Union has contacted Thu Dau Mot University to get support in terms of materials facilities and computers for the competition; taken initiative in organizing the competition’s opening and awards ceremonies; coordinated with provincial Police Agency to ensure security and safety for candidates during the competition; taken initiative in meeting sponsors in the province to increase sponsorship sources for candidates…

Such these apart, provincial Youth Union has organized volunteer squads to support candidates and their relatives; printed and delivered handbooks about the competition and Binh Duong to candidates. Currently, preparatory work is ready for provincial Youth Union to successfully organize the competition that promises to create good impressions on Binh Duong’s flexible land and people.
