Implementing the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction, in the 2016-2020 and in the past 5 years, the People's Committee of Phu Giao district has implemented many solutions to help people escape poverty. In 5 years, 474 households in the whole district have been out of poverty. By the end of 2020, the number of poor households in the district was 83 households, accounting for 0.35% along side with 806 nearly-poor households, accounting for 3.32%.
In the past 5 years, the district has organized 57 vocational training classes on cultivation of mushroom and sprouts, animal husbandry, household sewing, and cooking among others for 1,531 trainees who were mainly rural workers. They also implemented disbursement of more than VND 90.4 billion from the Social Policy Bank's capital to 2,343 turns of poor households or households that have just escaped from poverty and nearly-poor loans for economic development. They organized 167 training courses on transferring science and technology in animal husbandry, cultivation, pest and disease control on plants and animals for farmers.
In addition, the district People's Committee also implemented a policy to support learning expenses for more than 15,570 students with an amount of more than VND 6.4 billion. On consideration, 23,475 health insurance cards have been issued to poor and nearly-poor households at a total amount of more than VND 11,264 million. 28 charitable houses have been built or repaired on donation to poor and disadvantaged households at a value of more than VND 1,180 million. Tet allowances for 3,577 poor and nearly-poor households has been given along with 5,030 gifts at a total cost of over VND 4,700 million.
