*Underprivileged pupils awarded bicycles, life insurance contracts
Provincial People’s Committee yesterday morning held a conference to review the local task on health insurance in pupils and students for the 2015-2016 academic year while disseminating new features about health insurance premium collection for pupils and students. The province now has a total of 283 schools with 287,338 pupils and students. In the 2015-2016 academic year, there were 227,997 pupils and students of 280 schools joining health insurance or 81% of total. The coverage rate of health insurance for pupils at primary schools was 86%; secondary schools, 85%; high schools, 83%; universities-colleges, 44%. Di An and Ben Cat were two localities with the highest coverage rate of health insurance in pupils and students at nearly 100%.
At the conference, delegates heard reports by units and schools; were guided new features in the task of health insurance in pupils and students for the 2016-2017 academic year and got dissemination of rights and interests for this kind of health insurance.
Mr.Hung said that the rate of pupils and students joining health insurance in the province was still low while suggesting the local authorities at all levels and sectors to consider this as a common task of the whole political system. The People’s Committees of districts, towns and TDM city also need to map out concrete plans on health insurance premium collection and create favorable conditions for units making propaganda work on joining health insurance.
On this occasion, provincial Social Insurance awarded the certificates of merit to 36 collectives and 13 individuals having excellent achievements in the task of health insurance in pupils and students for the 2015-2016 academic year.
*The same day, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with AIA Vietnam Life Insurance Co.Ltd., the Vietnam Children’s Support Fund and the National Committee for Traffic Safety organized the 2016 “Real Life Journey” program, in attendance of Doan Mau Diep, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.
This was a significant program with numerous activities, including parading by bicycles, presenting bicycles and gifts to underpriviledged children nationwide. After two-year implemetation of the program, AIA Vietnam Life Insurance Co.Ltd. directly gave 2,664 bicycles and thousands of gifts to poor children. In Binh Duong, the program presented 70 bicycles, 5 life insurance contracts to poor-but-excellent pupils with a total expense of VND230million. They also had a chance to take part in games, parades by bicycles…
