Well realizing the movement of “paying debt of gratitude”, Binh Duong was recognized as a locality excelling at realizing policies for war invalids, martyrs’ families and revolutionary contributors. Similarly, Le Cong Duong, born in 1935, a war invalid with two-fourths disability level in Phu Giao district’s Phuoc Hoa commune has also received interest from the local authorities at all levels, helping his family escape poverty and rise up life.
Nguyen Van Long, Vice-Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee said that the district has well realized policies for revolutionary contributors. Over the past five years, the district built and upgraded 112 gratitude houses, granted more than 2,800 health insurance cards for policy beneficiaries…Till now, the lives of the local policy beneficiary families have reached a lot of changes. Many of them, namely Le Khac Ngoc in Tan Long commune, Truong Van Hung in Phuoc Sang, Le Duc Tu in Phuoc Vinh township…have become role-models in economic development.
Along with well realizing policies for policy beneficiary families, Di An town is now vanguard in the movement of mobilization for the local Gratitude Fund with more than VND1.5billion annually raised from businesses, agencies and units. Upon the fund, every year, the town takes 100 revolutionary contributors to tourist sites; visits and presents gifts to revolutionary contributors on Tet and great holidays…

Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that the province excelled at a task of “paying debt of gratitude” over the past time. The province last year built 29 gratitude houses and upgraded 123 ones. Hence, there have been no revolutionary contributors in need of housing so far.
The province has also rechecked, offered essential interior products, saving books to more than 300 needy heroic Vietnamese mothers, wounded and sick soldiers and revolutionary contributors with a total expense of more than VND12billion from the local Gratitude Fund and Fund for the Poor.
Under the socialization of taking care of policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors, the province has called for businesses to maintain 100% of alive heroic Vietnamese mothers with the minimum subsidy of VND1million per mother per month; paid attention to healthcare for policy beneficiaries; organized tours to Ha Noi, Con Dao, Phu Quoc…for them…
Mr.Hang affirmed that over the past time, practical activities on “paying debt of gratitude” not only showed the local attention for policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors, but also contributing to deeply educating generations, especially young ones about the moral principal of “when drinking water, remembering its resources”.
To date, 99.71% of revolutionary contributors in the province have had the living standards that are equal or higher than the average level of the local residents. Among them, there are 1,148 well-off households, 2,273 and 3,180 with moderately good and average living standards.
