Nearly 11 years of holding the position of the ward Red Cross society chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung has spared no efforts to complete her tasks. She said "Working at the Red Cross society is like doing charity. I therefore often arrive at companies and donors to raise funds for people in difficult circumstance".
Dung added that to well implement the society's work and complete well goals, she always cements people and members, creating solidarity and especially holding a close relationship with organizations, economic units, religious locations and donors to take advantage of raising funds for local Red Cross society's deeds.
In addition, she consults local leaders and cooperates closely with sectors, mass bodies to mobilize people to join in the society.
With the motto of "leaning on residential community" and the traditional principle of "The good leaves protect the worn-out leaves", Dung in the past year cooperated with the ward Red Cross Society to mobilize people to build 2 charity houses worth VND 90mil for 2 poor people, subscribe 275 gifts with the total value of more than VND38mil for the poor on Tet holiday. Especially, implementing the mobilization of "every organization, every individual attaches to a humanitarian address" launched by the central Red Cross, Dung annually mobilizes 22 individuals to attach to 28 humanitarian addresses.
Aside from excelling the society's jobs, as a veteran of the ward, she always helps poor comrades by mobilizing people to build a charity house worth VND20mil to a needy veteran in My Phuoc ward in 2009, or to help poor veterans to increase production. Moreover, she supports VND500,000 to localities to build charity houses for the poor.
Among her merit certificates, most of the awards relating to humanity account for the largest quantity. Especially, she was awarded by the central Red Cross for her excellent achievements of the mobilization of "Every organization, every individual attaches to a humanitarian address" for the period of 2008-2013.
