Gradual stance assertion
The year 2023 began under unique circumstances as the COVID-19 pandemic has been largely under control but still posing challenges to the quality of education. The entire education sector in Binh Duong province has made efforts to overcome limitations and difficulties, while maintaining and improving the quality of education at all levels. With determination and resilience, in 2023, the education sector in Binh Duong has strived to achieve remarkable accomplishments.
The evidence of that resilient spirit and determination is the quality and effectiveness of continuing education, which has shown positive changes. All indicators have been achieved, with some even surpassing the previous academic year. Teachers and educational administrators have received attention, and the quality of education at all levels has been gradually improved. The 2018 general education program has been implemented in all educational institutions, bringing about positive changes. The 2023 high school graduation exam was successfully organized. This year, Binh Duong achieved 31 awards in the national excellent student competition and had 3 students participating in the selection exam for the regional and international Olympic teams held in Hanoi. This is also the second consecutive year that Binh Duong has had students advance to the prestigious round of the Road to Olympia competition.
In addition, the Department of Education and Training in Binh Duong province has directed schools to enhance moral education, character development, and lifestyle for students through integrating these teachings into cultural subjects and extracurricular activities. Cultural education, historical traditions, and artistic, physical, and sports activities are also emphasized in schools to cultivate well-rounded students in terms of morality, intellect, physique, and aesthetics.
In an interview with us, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of the Department of Education and Training, stated that in the past academic year, the education sector in the province has made relentless efforts to implement numerous innovative and effective solutions, contributing to the sustainable improvement of the quality of education and training. As a result, Binh Duong's education sector has solidified its position among other provinces and cities nationwide. To achieve such results is a process of collective effort and pride of the entire education sector, along with timely guidance and close supervision from the Ministry of Education and Training, the provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the close coordination of departments, agencies, organizations, and localities within the province.
Constant emergence
In 2023, the provincial education sector has achieved significant progress in the reform of teaching and learning. However, it must also acknowledge the existence of numerous shortcomings in the implementation of the new general education program, from textbooks to the shortage of teachers and classrooms. The school infrastructure and teaching equipment in some localities, despite being newly built and supplemented every year, still fail to adequately meet the increasing number of students and keep up with the process of innovation.
To overcome these difficulties, in recent times, the provincial People's Committee has focused all available resources on investing in the education sector. In addition, the provincial Department of Education and Training continues to prioritize budget allocation to enhance infrastructure and provide necessary teaching equipment to ensure the implementation of the 2018 general education program. The team of educators has tirelessly strived and courageously faced difficulties and challenges to implement innovation. All students and teachers in the province are making efforts to excel in "Teaching and learning well," embracing the teaching principles of President Ho Chi Minh: "No matter how difficult it is, we must continue to strive for excellent teaching and learning."
