A meaningful Fullmoon Festival

With songs and chanting verse, children are engaged in Fullmoon Festival. This year, Ben Cat Town was chosen as central place of provincial Fullmoon Festival where children would be satisfied with games, lantern reception, and lantern giving away on river amongst meaningful gifts.

Practical activities

The festive night was started in Ben Cat Town at noon of Sept 7. Over 1,500 school children joined lantern making contest and folk games. Deputy Chair of the town people’s committee, Tran Thi Thu Thao said: “The Fullmoon Festival is to bring up a joyful event. Besides, folk games and performances were organized to promote traditional culture.”

In the evening, the festival in Ben Cat Town was animated by wishing of State’s President Truong Tan Sang through his wishing letter before games and shows were held. Amateur performers promoted the event.

Nguyen Van Trung, a student of Hoa Loi Junior High School, said: “I am so happy to day with the lantern contest and performance.”

Of the lantern contest, about 70 lanterns were submitted for evaluation under various themes of piety, homeland patriotism, and nation building dreams, etc.

Fullmoon Festival catering

This year, the provincial authority allocated VND 150 million for the Fullmoon Festival organization. Besides, local Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has added to the funding through coordination with financial authority enabling the presentation of 550 gift packages of candies and lanterns to children. Seventy children in special circumstances in My Phuoc Ward received their special gifts.

Concluding the festive night, leader representative of Ben Cat Town highly appreciated contributions of people and care for children during Fullmoon Festival. They affirmed the best support of Ben Cat Town regarding the education of younger generation.

The festive atmosphere was the same across communes and wards in the province.
