Tet away from home
Nguyen Tan Cuong, the owner of Thanh Tu lodging house in Binh Phuoc B quarter, Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An town annually holds the Lunar New Year’s Eve party for lodgers. In this year’s Tet holiday, Cuong decorates colorful lights on his entrance gate.
“In this year, owing to the economic downturn, my lodging house area has left about 20 empty rooms. Some of tenants in my boarding house area can not afford to come back their home for Tet, so I will hold the Lunar New Year’s Eve party for them”.
Meanwhile, Luong Van Khich, the owner of Hong Phuong lodging house area in Binh Quoi A quarter, Binh Chuan ward has prepared Tet gift packages to grant to tenants at more than his 30 lodging rooms. “Due to economic difficulties, some businesses must cut human resources or allow their workers to enjoy early Tet days-off. My Tet gifts contain love between lodging house proprietor and tenants on Tet holiday”.
Khich’s small gifts including coffee bags, paper cakes, calendars or cookies bring joy for alien workers. “My lodging house area in this year has about 50 tenants staying for Tet. As usual, my family members and tenants together welcome Lunar New Year lively”, Khich said.
Enjoying Tet holiday on second hometown
The Lunar New Year’s Eve parties are not only for tenants but for their friends. On the first days of the Lunar New Year, tenants also enjoy Tet wishing visits made by the lodging house proprietors.
Nguyen Van Duong family will enjoy Tet holiday away from home in this year, owing to difficult circumstance. Therefore, Cuong, the boarding house proprietor, paid a Tet gift visit to Duong family and exempted lodging house rental fee for many months.
In the meantime, Huynh Thi Phuong Dung from the Northern province of Phu Yen who has rented Cuong’s lodging room for over 10 years, shared “Enjoying attention from the proprietor, lodgers welcoming Tet away from home feel warm and happy”.
