A unique cultural festival at the beginning of the year

The procession of Thien Hau Lady, also known as the Lady’s Palanquin Parade, is one of the most vibrant cultural events held annually in Binh Duong at the beginning of the year. Beyond its spiritual significance, the festival offers locals and visitors a chance to experience mesmerizing artistic performances that mark the arrival of spring.

The lion and dragon dance troupes contribute to making the procession more dignified and vibrant

As usual, Thien Hau Lady’s Palanquin Parade takes place on the 15th day of the Lunar New Year at the Thien Hau Temple in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu Cuong ward. With the establishment of the Thien Hau Temple in Hoa Phu Ward, an additional procession is held on the 9th day of the Lunar New Year.

The palanquin procession is the most important part of the festival. The sacred statue of Thien Hau Lady is placed on a palanquin and paraded through the main streets of the city. As the procession moves forward, locals and visitors line up along roads, bowing in deep reverence, praying for a prosperous and peaceful new year. A remarkable highlight of this year's procession was the participation of over 25 lion and dragon dance troupes, alongside parade trucks decorated with flowers and art troupes. Colorful lions and dragons, combined with intense drumming and skillful acrobatics, created eye-catching performances for viewers.

The procession of Thien Hau Lady has long been recognized as one of the most significant festivals marking the beginning of the new year in Binh Duong. Beyond its grandeur, the festival is also a testament to the generosity and compassion of the local community. Numerous charitable activities were organized, providing free services for both residents and visitors. Thanks to the meticulous preparation by the Organization Board and the collective efforts of the community. This year's Ba Thien Hau palanquin procession left many deep impressions and beautiful images in the hearts of people and tourists.

To gain a deeper understanding of the solemn rituals, particularly the palanquin procession of Thien Hau Lady, please watch the next episode of the "I Love Binh Duong" program conducted by Binh Duong Newspaper. The program will be broadcast at 6:00 AM on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at www.baobinhduong.vn and on Binh Duong Newspaper's social media platforms, including YouTube and Facebook.
