The management, education, and creation of playgrounds for children and students in the summer are always a matter of concern and identified as an important task. To create rewarding summer days for students, provincial Department of Education and Training directed units and schools to develop a summer activity organizing plan for students at all levels. Specifically, educational institutions and schools must establish summer steering committees; develop a plan to organize summer activities, assign enough teachers and staff to be in charge of summer activities. High schools, junior high schools, high schools in the province during the summer vacation must open libraries, cultural institutions, gymnasiums and sports halls on school grounds; provide tools and equipment for summer activities so that students can have a place to play and read in the summer.
Besides, schools organize summer activities with the theme "Together to reduce harm to children"; "Fun, healthy, safe" summer vacation from June 2 to August 31. Schools actively coordinate with the authorities, the summer steering committee in localities to organize fun and entertainment activities; launch movements, skill trainings, organizing experiential activities, cultural activities, physical training and sports. Specifically, high school students are encouraged to participate in the summer 2023 youth volunteer campaign with focus on the 2023 exam season assisting program; campaign "Red phoenix flower"; gratitude activities, physical training and sports. For high school and junior high school students, swimming lessons are provided, and skills training activities such as "Dynamic teen skills summer camp, good learning", "Children's art award"...
Ta Tan Tuan, Head of Education & Training Office of Dau Tieng district said: “At the end of May, our office issued a document directing school units to carry out tasks during the summer vacation. In which, we require schools to closely coordinate with local mass organizations to manage, create a healthy playground and organize swimming classes, safety skill training to prevent drowning for students; strengthen the coordination between schools and families to manage and supervise students during the summer to ensure their safety. Currently, all schools organize two summer activities per week with diverse contents for children, such as folk games, sports, dance, or organize sightseeing and learning about local historical sites”.
Currently, HYPO Councils of communes, wards, and townships have coordinated with school HYPOs in the area to do a good job of managing children in the summer; actively coordinate and organize summer activities for children according to the oriented contents. Le Thi Ngoc Giau, Secretary of Binh Hoa Ward’s Youth Union (Thuan An City), said that in the summer 2023, the ward Youth Union received about 2,000 students for summer activities in the area. The Ward Youth Union directed youth unions to organize summer activities for teenagers and children depending on specific conditions of each union branch, with many exciting entertainment, cultural and artistic activities such as: weekend playground for students; martial arts classes, gifted classes, class of One day I will be a soldier... Let children have a useful summer vacation
It is of great importance to take care of students having a true summer vacation with many safe and useful activities. Thereby, the activities aim to help children have fun, relax, and learn useful skills to develop comprehensively both physically, intellectually and spiritually. Le Thanh Tam, Vice Principal of Hoi Nghia Junior High School (Tan Uyen City), said that currently, the school coordinated to hand over students to local summer steering committees in accordance with regulations. The school also assigns staff and teachers to be on duty from Monday to Friday, opening the library to students who need to read books during the summer holidays.
To organize well activities for children in the summer is not only the responsibility of the school and family but also the responsibility of the whole society. In order for children to have really useful and interesting summer days, besides the activities of education branch, Youth Union and authorities at all levels need to pay more attention to the arrangement of places for summer activities to create many playgrounds for children. Besides, based on the actual situation, localities need to organize activities with useful content, diverse and rich forms, suitable for children's needs.
Provincial Department of Education & Training also requires that summer activities for students must be conducted on a voluntary basis, based on strengthening propagation, communication, and encouraging children’s participation with the support of students' parents. In addition, when organizing summer activities for children, the organizers must ensure safety, the prevention of Covid-19 and other seasonal diseases. Children are the future generation of the country, being cared for and protected by the whole society. Hopefully, with the efforts of all levels and branches, children will have useful, safe, and meaningful summer days.
