A veteran guerrilla gets rich through difficulties

Mr. Pham Van Tien, born in 1953, residing at An Linh Village of Phu Giao District, is famous for his self enrichment. “I send my words to people and to my comrades that we can be rich despite physical disadvantages,” said Mr. Pham Van Tien during our visit to him.

He was born into a traditional family of revolutionary movements. In 1945, his father followed Vietnamese revolutionary organization in D warzone. At that time the nearly 1-year-old son lost his mother. He, then, had to live with grandparents at An Thanh Village, Thuan An District (now An Thanh Ward, Thuan An Town). Growing up, he was forced join the army of the puppet government but avoided by falsely declared to be under age. He secretly joined the guerrilla force in An Thanh Village to help the liberation forces by confronting enemy battalions.

In 1969, he suffered from malaria which is threatening to his life; however, after having recovered he was transferred to Binh Long and met Mrs. Tran Thi Gai – also a guerrilla soldier. By 1974, they got married and had their first son who deceased during laboring, leaving pains and sorrow to them.

After liberation, they moved to An Linh Village and lived on with two bare hands and two slashing knives. And his household business has been extended to 40 hectares of rubber trees which bring up stable income and profit.

He has also hold many titles includin police vice chief, justice chief cum standing member, and Chairman of An Linh People’s Committee. After retirement, in 10 years through he was entrusted to Secretary of local Party Committee. And through difficulties, he convinced people by his best achievements in enriching his own family business.

Besides, he usually helps others and creates jobs for tens of local people.
