Many immigrant workers will stay in Binh Duong for the Tet (lunar New Year) festival 2013. And they will enjoy a warm and happy Tet under the attention and care of the local authorities, agencies and organizations.
Significant activities for workers who cannot return home for Tet
The festival “Celebrating Party and lunar New Year 2013” for young workers at the local lodging facilities will be held at Phu Loi ward’s Cultural-Sports Center on the evening of February 4, 2013 (December 24 of lunar Calendar).
The festival will take place jubilantly
with many significant activities, including a “banh tet”, “banh chung”
(traditional sticky rice cake) making contest, folkgames, unicorn-lion-dragon
dancing, a home-made costume contest with the theme of “Charm of spring
color”... The organizers will also present Tet gifts to young workers with
difficulties.

According to Nguyen Thi Hong An, Vice-Secretary of Phu Loi ward’s Youth Union in HCM city, the festival aims to create an useful playground for young workers at the local lodging facilities, making them feel less homesick when they cannot afford to travel home to celebrate Tet with their families.
An Binh ward in Di An town is a locality crowded with immigrant workers and it is expected that many immigrant workers will stay herein for this Tet. Thanks to the good care of the local authorities, agencies and organizations, immigrant workers herein still feel a warm and happy Tet.
Warmness to immigrant workers
Nguyen Trong No, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s Labor Union said: “More than 100 young workers together with their families will stay in Phu Giao for this Tet. The district’s Labor Union and its affiliates have visited and presented 50 gifts to young workers who cannot afford travel home for Tet, donated 180 Tet gifts to workers with extremely difficult circumstances….”.
The local authorities, agencies and organizations will visit and present thousands of gifts to workers who cannot go home for this Tet. Provincial Industrial Parks’ Trade Union has so far made a plan to provide Trade Union cadres and members with trips home for Tet; present 1,200 gifts worth VND500,000 each to workers who cannot afford to go home for Tet and those wounded seriously by labor accidents; organize two art performance programs for workers on February 2 and 3 at Dong An and Binh Duong industrial parks.
Provincial Labor Union has also proposed to be granted provincial/district-State budget to support Tet gifts to workers who cannot afford to go home for Tet. Accordingly, provincial Labor Union will be granted 3,120 gifts worth more than VND1.87bln for workers who cannot afford to travel for Tet from provincial State budget; provincial Industrial Parks’ Trade Union, 1,120 gifts; VSIP’s Trade Union, 520 gifts; Ben Cat-based Industrial Parks’ Trade Union, 580 gifts; Binh Duong garment & textile sector’s Trade Union, 500 gifts and trade union locals under provincial Trade Union, 400 gifts. From district-level State budget, TDM will be granted 300 gifts; Thuan An, 2,000 gifts; Di An, 1,600 gifts; Tan Uyen, 700 gifts; Ben Cat, 800 gifts; Phu Giao, 100 gifts and Dau Tieng, 50 gifts.
