"Together listen to women, together tell women for women to understand, together do with women for women to follow" is the motto of Phan Thi Ngoc Loi, President of the Women's Union of North Tan Uyen district. Woman officials and members in the district therefore often call her by an affectionate name: The woman of "three-together".

Solidarity, mutual affection
Empathy and sharing is what Phan Thi Ngoc Loi always wants to do more to help poor and disadvantaged women. Recalling the stressful Covid-19 pandemic period in 2021, the district had many cases of pregnant women workers who faced numerous difficulties as giving birth, she mobilized contributions of women members and directly visited, presented gifts to these cases. In early August 2021, when she heard that there was a woman giving birth in isolation areas, with no supplies for childbirth, Loi called for donations and was enthusiastically supported by members. She received milk, baby clothes, diapers, and cash; then she quickly brought it to the woman in the same day. "At that time, the circumstance of migrant workers was very tough, whenever there was a woman in the district who needed help, I called my members to support in time, especially in cases of childbirth lacking supplies," she recalled.
In the social security work, Loi regularly reminds the Woman’s Union to implement models of solidarity and mutual affection. This activity has become characteristic of the Woman’s Union since the district’s establishment. As the Covid-19 pandemic caused many consequences for daily life, many poor households became even poorer. Therefore, Loi flexibly set up a savings program from grassroots level to the district level to help women make money, and joined hands with the district to implement the motto "do not let anyone left behind". This was also the reason for the meeting to review the work in 2021 of the Woman’s Union to take place with the goal to implement the project "Helping and caring for 100 women and children having difficult circumstances because of the Covid-19 pandemic".
That kindness and sharing spread and created a solidarity spirit among all women members in the district. In the last months of 2021 and early 2022, when the district was resuming business production, women's union members carried out a wide range of activities to help each other overcome difficulties. Not only work but also a desire, which urged Loi to create activities and movements, inspired the whole women’s union to do useful things for disadvantaged cases. Thus, "Saving Week to share love" was carried out at the right time with the participation of 100% of woman officials and members, brought a happy spring to people's hearts on occasion of the Lunar New Year 2022.
Loi said: "I am very happy that all levels of Women’s Union in the district have actively done a good job of taking care of women members’ spiritual material life, especially vulnerable women, made sure that everyone had a happy Tet. "Spring of Love", "Tet sharing" programs promptly gave more than 770 gifts of cash and necessities worth more than VND 367 million to needy women and children. In addition, Women’s Unions in the district have performed practical ways to support poor members, sponsor children with disabilities, presented seedlings and breeding animals to members... The efforts and enthusiasm of woman members resulted in 45 works worth nearly VND 660 million. The results showed the heart and spirit of woman members together to further expand their arms of love and kindness in life."
Be close to the grassroots
If an official does not pioneer, responsibility spirit is not high, movements and activities of the women’s union do not achieve good quality and cannot utilize the strength of members. Recognizing the leading role, Loi has been active in diversifying movements and activities to encourage woman to participate in activities of overcoming difficulties and creatively realizing Party resolution of women's congress at all levels. Right from the first days of 2022, Loi directly visited 10 union branches to listen thoughts of women officials and members, grasp characteristics and difficulties of each locality in implementing the movements to orientate, further develop the effectiveness of grassroots movements.
At every destination, Loi specified and gave recommendations to union staff to better promote their role and responsibility in the implementation of resolutions; increase the connectivity in the coordination between Women’s Union and departments, branches to achieve the effectiveness. According to Loi, grassroots union branches implemented emulation movements and work programs through many practical models and actions for women and children, and activities to help disadvantaged children, care for women affected by covid-19, women with disabilities, women having difficult circumstances. In particular, women’s union branches continued to support women in starting a business; each union branch mobilized at least 20 women members to participate in start-ups and cooperatives, cooperative groups, affiliated groups to increase income.
Not only be zealous, close to the grassroots level, Loi is also an official with a strong determination, her words always go with her actions. Recently, immediately after a meeting with the District Party Committee on the implementation of the project "Mass mobilization to participate in building cultural and civilized lifestyle" took place in February 2022, Loi urgently met Executive Committee of the Women’s Union, immediately developed a plan for model "Each women's union branch performs an act of humanity to build a civilized lifestyle every week" and launched this model right on the first days of March.
That spirit spread to 54 women's union branches in the area when all registered works and models associated with 30 contents launched by the District Women's Union. "Women act for the environment", "Drinking water must remember its source", "For the smile of children", "For the safe life of women, kindness and sharing"... these are the key contents that have been implemented by women unions of communes, towns, quarters and hamlets with the goal of achieving the highest quality and efficiency to jointly build North Tan Uyen District.
