A ceremony to launch the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence 2017 was held in TDM city on the morning of November 14, with more than 300 participants, including members of provincial Boards for the Advancement of Women and Women’s Unions at all levels.
This year’s action month under the theme of "Joining hands to end violence against women and girls” will take place from November 15 to December 12, aiming at calling for attention and participation of relevant organizations and individuals in promoting gender equality and eliminating violence against women and girls.
Addressing the ceremony, Le Minh Quoc Cuong, Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that with the efforts by the local authorities at all levels, gender equality work has been implemented in all aspects of social life and family, contributing to changing people’s awareness and action in gender equality. But, in 2016 alone, there were still 144 family violence cases reported in the province, in which more than 92% of victims were women…That’s reason why the province’s gender equality work for the advancement of women needs to be disseminated widely and deeply…
On this occasion, delegates also had a chance to exchange and share experience on enhancing management skills for female cadres.
