Actively mobilizing resources to take care of the poor during Tet holiday

This year, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels have continued carrying out many meaningful activities to take care of the poor during Tet. Propaganda and mobilization of resources are being actively implemented by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels in order to connect resources in society to join hands in well implementing the movement of " Tet of Kindness", bringing a warm Tet to people in need of support.

Inheritance and promotion

Over the past years, the movement of "Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims" launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society become a highlight and was effectively implemented by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels, helping tens of thousands of people with difficult circumstances enjoy cozy Tet festivals. Inheriting the results achieved in the past years, since this year, this meaningful movement has been renamed "Tet of Kindness".

In response to the movement of "Tet of Kindness" 2023, the Red Cross Society of Binh Chuan ward in Thuan An city gives gifts and bicycles for the local disadvantaged students

Talking to us, Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society said that the new feature of the "Tet of Kindness” movement is the diversity in the form of activities, the way to mobilize resources to organize many new models, such as: Giving gifts and extending Tet greetings, organizing a series of "Kind Tet market", "Tet service store", Tet celebrations,... "Based on the actual situation and features of each locality and unit, the association will organize appropriate "Tet of Kindness" activities. These activities contribute to supporting disadvantaged people to welcome Tet and enjoy spring in care, showing the compassion of the community, in which Red Cross Societies at all levels play a pivotal role," said Mrs. Trinh.

In a bid to bring the "Tet of Kindness" to everyone, connecting and spreading the act of kindness in the community, provincial Red Cross Society has soon deployed the movement to its branches. From the beginning of September 2022, provincial Red Cross Society has set up a plan, applied for a policy to organize and issue a letter of appeal sent to agencies, units, organizations, individuals, businesses and donors in and out of the province in order to mobilize resources to support the "Tet of Kindness" program 2023 and humanitarian activities of provincial Red Cross Society in the coming time. Provincial Red Cross Society has also implemented a plan to organize the "Tet of Kindness" program at the provincial level in 2023; guided its branches to set up plans to implement the "Tet of Kindness" movement in localities, units and establishments with appropriate activities, ensuring to strive to achieve and exceed the set targets.

In order to spread the meaning of the movement, provincial Red Cross Society has collaborated with Binh Duong Newspaper, Binh Duong Radio and Television Station and media agencies in and out of the province to build extensive propaganda reports and trailers about the purpose and meaning of the movement; opportunely announced the results of the movement while praising outstanding models, collectives and individuals in the implementation of the movement in the province through activities before, during and after the "Tet of Kindness" 2023.

There will be many meaningful activities

For the "Tet of Kindness" movement 2023 to be organized with the highest efficiency, bringing joy and happiness to people with difficult circumstances, over the past time, cadres of provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels have focused highly on carrying out relevant activities, especially mobilizing resources. Ngo Thi Xuyen, Chairman of Dau Tieng district’s Red Cross Society said that through the implementation of the "Tet of Kindness" movement, over the past time, the district’s Red Cross Society has received many support resources from units, businesses, religious organizations, donors and people. Mrs. Xuyen shared: "Under the movement, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels are actively mobilizing resources, striving to reach over 4,000 gifts. We continue calling for cooperation from the community and hope to receive more support to bring joy to the poor during this Tet holiday…”.

According to the plan to implement the "Tet of Kindness" movement in 2023, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels will strive to mobilize over 32,600 gifts to give for disadvantaged families in the province, helping them have more conditions to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet. From mobilization resources, the association will organize delegations to visit and offer Tet gifts to disadvantaged families, humanitarian addresses in districts, towns and cities in the province, members of the Association of the Blind, Agent Orange/dioxin victims and other vulnerable subjects.

Along with the above activities, provincial Red Cross Society will coordinate with relevant units to organize the live TV program "Tet of Kindness" and "Pink Spring Festival 2023" on Binh Duong Radio and Television Station. Through this program, the association continues mobilizing organizations, individuals, businesses and donors to support the fund of provincial Red Cross Society in order to create resources for humanitarian work and to be grateful to organizations and individuals, businesses and donors with many contributions to the Red Cross movements; launches the movement of “all people participating in voluntary blood donation” on the occasion of the Tet festival 2023.

In addition to provincial-level activities, grassroots Red Cross Societies will also organize "Tet of Kindness" activities under the assigned plan, ensuring that all disadvantaged people in the province can enjoy a cozy Tet. “What humanitarian workers like us want right now when the Lunar New Year is approaching is to receive the support of all-level authorities, sectors, agencies, units, businesses and donors to bring the poor a warm and complete Tet; do not let any people with difficult or weak circumstances have no Tet", Mrs.Trinh added.

Provincial Red Cross Associations at all levels strive to mobilize and give over 32,600 gifts to disadvantaged and vulnerable people during the Tet festival 2023. The total value of humanity activities will be VND30 billion dong. The number of gifts valued at VND 500.000 or more accounts for over 80% of the total number of gifts.
