To protect legal interests of employees
The Trade Union of Ben Cat town is currently managing 251 grassroots unions with 30,337 members among 30,592 workers and employees. Of which, female workers account for 65 - 70%, the workforce is mainly concentrated in industrial zones and clusters. In 2023, the unit will continue to closely follow the direction of all levels and the practical situation at the grassroots level, so that the union's activities are carried out in accordance with the set goals and orientations.
Many new measures and operating models have been implemented to include updating and propagating activities and latest documents on policies and regimes related to employees through the website of the town Trade Union to help workers have the fastest access to information possible. The unit also organized contests for workers and labor officials in the form of multiple choice and essays via the website to promote the development of union members and build strong trade union organizations from towns to grassroots. At the same time, the unit continued to pay attention to training and education to raise awareness and political stance for grassroots Trade Union officials.
Ben Cat town Trade Union periodically reviewed and inspected the observance of the Trade Union Charter at grassroots Trade Unions. Thereby, the unit promptly corrected a number of businesses that have not well implemented the laws on labor protection, allowing labor accidents to occur, or having not organized periodic health checks for all workers nor having not built salary scale and labor regulations. Along with that, the unit coordinated with local authorities to inspect a number of businesses on the implementation of the Labor Law and the Trade Union Law, to check security and order, and to minimize property theft, fire and explosion...

The unit provides free labor law consultation at many points, coordinates to organize mediation, participates in resolving individual and collective disputes, thereby, contributing to stabilizing labor relations, developing production and business, and maintaining political security and order of the entire society in the town."
A good range of caring activities
Towards the grassroots and for the workers is the motto of the trade unions at all levels in Ben Cat town. Thereby, the work of taking care of the lives of trade union members and workers in particularly difficult circumstances is always focused on. Le Nguyen Thanh Binh said that especially difficult cases, sickness for many days, and labor accidents are always updated and listed by the grassroots Trade Union. These cases are promptly mobilized and supported by the town Trade Union with gifts and money. Usually, the grassroots Trade Union is responsible for mobilizing union members and workers at the enterprise for additional support.
Although these supports are not large in amounts, they provide timely encouragement and help workers feel warmer and have more strength to overcome difficulties. Recently, on receiving support from the Ben Cat town Trade Union, Do Thi Thuy, a native of Nam Dinh province and a worker at Phong Thai Rubber Company Limited, was emotional to say: "Having local leaders at all levels come to my house to visit and encourage me is a great motivation for me to continue overcoming the difficulties I am facing." For many years, Thuy and her husband worked together to take care of their child with a congenital disease. Recently, her husband had a stroke and required long-term treatment. So the family's burden is to fall on Thuy.
Besides special cases in 2023, the Ben Cat town Trade Union regularly mobilizes and takes care of workers in the area on holidays and New Year. During the Lunar New Year of 2023, the unit coordinated with the Division of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ben Cat town to support 2,500 gifts for workers with an amount of VND 2.5 billion while it mobilized funds from socialization sources to give 100 gifts worth VND 1 million each to 100 trade union members and workers. On the occasion of activities in Workers' Month and in response to the Action Month on occupational safety and hygiene in 2023, the unit organizes visits and presents gifts to trade union members who have suffered labor accidents, serious diseases and are in difficult circumstances. Thereby, the unit gave gifts to 154 cases with a total amount of VND 110 million.
After the Ben Cat town Trade Union Congress for the 2023-2028 term, the town Trade Union advised the Town People's Committee to establish a delegation to visit businesses and visit and give gifts to union members and workers with difficulties at the amount of VND 75 million. On the occasion of the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival, the Trade Union advised the town Party Committee and the town People's Committee to visit businesses and give 390 gifts worth VND 90 million to workers in difficult circumstances.
