*This year’s International Day against Drug Abuse, also Vietnam’s Anti-drug Day is themed “Make health your ‘new high’ in life, not drugs”.
With the theme, many activities in response to the event have been organized across the province. Particularly, early June 22, the Steering Board 138 held a ceremony to respond to the Drug Prevention Day with the participation of more than 1,000 people at Di An town-based primary school. The same day, Thuan An town also organized a ceremony in response to the event with 500 participants.
On June 23, many activities in response to Drug Prevention Day, including an art performance, a parade through the city’s main streets…, were also organized in TDM city.
* The whole province saw a reduction in the number of drug trafficking cases in the first half of 2013. It is known that the province’s anti-drug crime police cracked down on drug-related crime during the period. As a result, they discovered 15 drug-related cases, decreasing by 5 compared to the corresponding period last year and arrested 258 offenders.
*Tan Hiep commune in Phu Giao district has just organized a meeting in response to Vietnam’s Anti-drug Day with 70 participants. The meeting aimed to raise public awareness of the harmful effects of drug abuse, contributing to preventing drug-related social evils.
*Provincial Department of Health has just sent a document on organizing activities in response of the Action Month against Drug to medical facilities across the province.
Accordingly, the local medical facilities will speed up propaganda activities against drug; honor those who get achievements in the fight against drug; organize training courses on medicine and support ways about detoxification being applied in Vietnam for medical staff who are in charge of the local detoxification task.
