After 2 resistance wars, names of land areas and people in Binh Duong province were listed in history feats, contributing importantly to the cause of national liberation and unification. Along with the State’s investment, Binh Duong has promoted its potentials, advantages and made greater efforts to heal wars’ injuries, develop the land into a strong locality of national defense, security, social welfare, economy, especially ensure well implementation of policies for revolutionary contributors.

The provincial party committee secretary Mai The Trung (first, left) visits war invalid Tong Van Trung in Tan Trach hamlet, Bach Dang commune, Tan Uyen district.

Many activities of gratitude repayment

With the principle of “When drinking water, remember its sources”, over the past years many movements of taking care of heroic mothers, war invalids, martyrs’ relatives, revolutionary contributors have been launched widely. Aside from implementing policies for contributors, the provincial authority positively mobilizes people, agencies, units, enterprises to take care of poor privileged people’s material and spiritual life.

From 1997 to 2013, Binh Duong raised more than VND25bil for Fund of Gratitude Repayment, granted 3,632 gratitude houses worth more than VND74.545bil, repaired 1,671 gratitude houses worth over VND16,348bil and donated 3,847 saving books worth over VND1.5bil and more to privileged families. Local businesses take care of 100% of heroic mothers, assist wounded soldiers and martyrs’ poor relatives and among others.

Privileged families are very happy to receive care of leaders, enterprises and donors. Thenceforth, many privileged families make efforts to develop home-based economy and stabilize their life. Until now, 99.81% of revolutionary contributors across the province enjoy a stable living standard. Accordingly, there are 1,360 rich privileged households, 2,505 fair families and 3,021 average ones.

For example, war invalid Luu Tien Dien in Binh An ward, Di An town is a proof. Returning his homeland after a fierce struggle, he receives a monthly subsidy and enjoys loans from Binh An ward Veterans’ Society. With his determination, he raises pigs and involves in developing home-based business. As a result, he now possesses nearly 20 boarding rooms, a herd of pigs and deers. “Enjoying assistance from many sides, I always remind myself to make effort to make wealth for family, homeland”, Tien Dien said.

Bringing joy for heroic mothers

In the last month, Binh Duong had additional 398 mothers awarded the title of Vietnamese heroic mothers. Apart from reward and subsidy policies as stipulated, the provincial administration disbursed nearly VND2bil to grant to newly-recognized heroic mothers. Over the past years, districts, townships and Thu Dau Mot city hold solemnly the ceremony of granting titles of Vietnamese heroic mothers. At the 69th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day, the provincial administration will hold the ceremony of granting the Vietnamese heroic mother titles to 43 alive mothers while units receive to take care of these heroic mothers and support them VND1mil per month.

Granting the Vietnamese heroic mother titles shows up tribute to revolutionary contributors and raises sectors and agencies’ responsible awareness on implementing the Party and State’s policies for contributors.

Huynh Thi Hong Thu, vice director of the provincial department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that on the Vietnam heroic mother title granting ceremony, the department mobilized 12 enterprises to take care of 43 heroic mothers. Accordingly, Becamex IDC Corp takes care of 4 mothers; Dau Tieng Ruber Company, 3; Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company, 8; Biwase Company, 2; Bimico, 4; Genimex, 5; Binh Duong Lottery Company, 5; Feb. 3 Company, 2; Thanh Le Tralexim Company, 4; M&C, 1; Biconsi, 2; Vietcombank, 3.
