Advancing the role of youth, fostering integration and supporting sustainable development

Binh Duong provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has designated the 2025 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign as a pivotal initiative for the youth, recognizing them as the vanguard force and a key element in the "Era of National Rise." Consequently, the Youth Union emphasizes the importance of youth in the pursuit of integration and sustainable development.

For a sustainable environment

Youth volunteer activities represent not merely a movement but also a genuine solution to social issues. In particular, the pursuit of a green, clean, and beautiful environment, along with collaborative efforts to safeguard it, remains a pressing concern. Consequently, the Youth Union at all levels is actively promoting programs aimed at environmental protection during the 2025 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.

In response to World Environment Day on June 5, the Phu Giao District Youth Union initiated the campaign "Phu Giao Youth Say No to Single-Use Plastic Products" last week. During the launch, the District Youth Union distributed over 200 cloth bags and 1,000 leaflets aimed at promoting anti-plastic waste initiatives in the Phuoc Vinh town market area. Furthermore, the District Youth Union and its affiliated base organized the second "Green Sunday," which included activities such as cleaning more than 15 kilometers of roadways, removing illegal advertisements, collecting nearly 100 kilograms of household waste, and planting over 200 new trees. The event saw the active participation of more than 1,000 youth union members from the district, contributing to environmental protection, enhancing local awareness against littering, and fostering a more aesthetically pleasing landscape.

Members of the Phu Giao District Youth Union distribute cloth bags and informational leaflets to the public to advocate for the reduction of plastic waste

In fostering the spirit of initiative and creativity among union members and youth, the Youth Union - Vietnam Youth Union at all levels has prioritized the diversification of activities and outreach programs aimed at union members, young individuals, and the general public. These initiatives seek to reduce the reliance on disposable plastic products and non-biodegradable nylon bags, while simultaneously encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly alternatives such as paper bags, cloth bags, glass cups, bamboo straws, and reusable items. Furthermore, the Youth Union continues to uphold the "Exchanging Waste for Gifts" model in boarding houses, along with initiatives for waste sorting and the promotion of green living environments. These efforts are designed to enhance public awareness and engagement in environmental protection, address climate change, and contribute to sustainable socio-economic development.

Universalization of digital competencies

The country is undergoing significant changes, propelled by digital transformation and innovation. The campaign "Youth Join Hands to Promote Digital Skills by 2025" has been implemented by the Provincial Youth Union at all levels, with the Youth Union and Councils excelling in summer volunteer programs.

According to the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee, the campaign "Youth Join Hands to Promote Digital Skills by 2025" is structured into two phases: Phase 1, running from May 29 to June 29, 2025, and Phase 2, from July 1 to August 15, 2025. Youth Union chapters at all levels will implement various campaign initiatives, including guidance on utilizing online public services, installing VNeID applications, digital signatures, and electronic payments; promoting five fundamental digital skills; and facilitating cashless payments that are easy, convenient, and secure. The campaign aims to train 52,000 union members and youth in digital skills; support the installation of 200,000 payment accounts and digital signatures; ensure that 95% of households have at least one individual proficient in using public services; and guarantee that 100% of Youth Union, Association, and Team officials participate in "Digital Literacy" classes.

In launching the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign and implementing the initiative "Youth Join Hands to Promote Digital Skills," the Long Hoa Commune Youth Union (Dau Tieng District) has collaborated with the Long Hoa High School Youth Union to facilitate digital capacity building for union members and students. The program equips participants with knowledge of network information security, fundamental skills in utilizing information technology equipment, and engagement in online learning and assessments. Additionally, the commune youth union provides guidance and support to individuals and businesses in navigating administrative procedures, accessing online public services, and advancing digital transformation.

In an effort to enhance digital skills among the populace, the District Youth Union has mobilized all of its affiliated Youth Union and Associations to establish "Digital Literacy for the People" teams. These teams are tasked with promoting and disseminating fundamental knowledge and skills in information technology, including guidance on the use of computers, smart devices, and social networks. Additionally, the units provide instruction on utilizing online public services and engaging with the government through digital platforms, as well as skills related to cashless electronic payments and other digital applications that support production and business activities.

According to the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee, the campaign "Youth Join Hands to Popularize Digital Skills by 2025" is structured into two phases: Phase 1, running from May 29 to June 29, 2025, and Phase 2, from July 1 to August 15, 2025. Youth Union chapters at all levels will implement various campaign initiatives, including guidance on utilizing online public services, installing VNeID applications, digital signatures, and electronic payments; promoting five fundamental digital skills; and facilitating cashless payments that are easy, convenient, and secure. The campaign aims to train 52,000 union members and youth in digital skills; support the installation of 200,000 payment accounts and digital signatures; ensure that 95% of households have at least one individual proficient in using public services; and guarantee that 100% of Youth Union, Association, and Team officials participate in the "Digital Literacy" class.

"Digital literacy for all" represents a crucial initial step, fostering awareness, equipping individuals with essential digital skills, enhancing labor productivity, generating new employment opportunities, and cultivating a community that adapts to digital transformation. This approach underscores the pioneering, proactive, and innovative roles of union members, youth, and all tiers of the Union - Association in the digital era, thereby integrating digital technology into everyday life.
