Welcoming the new school year 2018-2019, on 5 Sep, nearly 455,000 students in the province attended the 2018-2019 school year opening ceremony. Schools prepared the opening ceremony with rituals and festive part according to actual situation of each unit.
Solemn ceremony, impressive festivities
The preparation for opening ceremony in provincial schools was boisterous. Before the ceremony, all schools renovated school face to be green - clean – beautiful; teachers and students clean up the school together.
According to the guidance of Department of Education and Training, this year's opening ceremony consisted of two parts, ceremonies and festivities in accordance with specific situation of each unit and students. The ceremony should be brief but solemn with parts: flag salute, national anthem singing, reading the President’s letter... The content of opening ceremony focused on the welcoming of first-grade students to be meaningful and create a good impression for students. Festivities comprised fun, healthy, and impressive activities so that the opening day would be a great and sacred day to all children, and would attract the attention and support of the whole community.

Nguyen Van Tinh, Principal of Chanh Phu Hoa primary school (Ben Cat District), said that students were very eagerly waiting for the opening day, so they actively rehearsed performances for the day. In addition, the school also organized for many folk games for students. After the opening ceremony, students had lunch, and then continued to study normally in the afternoon.
At preschool level, the school day was also well prepared. Managing board of Vo Thi Sau kindergarten (Di An town) said that the ceremony was organized briefly and friendly, mainly announcement of starting new school year, good wishes to children in the 2018-2016 school year... In addition, the school arranged singing performances, fun folk games for children.
To high-school students, the opening ceremony was really meaningful. According to the plan, schools welcomed first-grade students (grade 1, grade 6, and grade 10) to friendly welcome students and help them to integrate into the new learning environment. After the ceremony, schools invited delegates, parents to visit classrooms; took students to visit traditional house, school library; introduced school development history, and some creative handmade teaching aids made by teachers and scientific products of students.
Nguyen Phuong Dung, Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training, reminded schools to organize meaningful and joyful opening ceremony for students. All schools made good preparations for the opening; mobilized all resources for strengthening material facilities, building a green, clean and beautiful environment, reviewing items, such as clean water, toilets, accommodation for boarding students, preparing the best environment for students to start a new school year. Besides, it is necessary to organize well the new student welcoming so that they could feel cherished, and love their school more.
A school year of "Substantial innovation, enhanced effectiveness"
In 2018-2019 school year, provincial education and training sector continues to implement the program of "Substantial innovation, enhanced effectiveness" together with the motto "responsible - dynamic - creative" and “All for beloved students". The whole sector continue to carry out fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training; intensify discipline in pre-school and general education establishments in order to raise the quality of comprehensive education.
Based on the general guideline of the sector, education and training office in districts, towns and city instructed schools to implement 7 tasks and 5 solutions set forth by Department of Education and Training. Namely, paying attention to improving the quality of management staff; assessing correctly management staff and assigning tasks according to teacher’s professional qualifications in order to bring into play their capabilities and strengths; to implement preschool education and general education programs; enhance vocational training and career guidance in high school education.
In the new school year, the sector focuses on improving the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages, especially English, at all levels; to promote the application of information technology in teaching, learning, and educational management. Besides, the whole sector will review the planning for educational institutions in order to improve investment efficiency and satisfy development requirements. Improving the educational quality at high school level, continue to develop secondary schools of creating human resource, high-quality high schools; separating secondary schools of creating human resource from common classes...
An important and regular work in the new school year is to maintain and improve the quality of comprehensive education, of good students; pay more attention to moral education, lifestyle, training self-determination, creativity, initiative in learning for students; training of life skills for children. In addition, the sector also cooperates with other sectors and departments to speed up socialization through the simplification of administrative procedures; actively encourage enterprises and investors to participate in projects on educational socialization and development.
