Over the past years, Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society has contributed greatly to the provincial and national humanitarian work. On the 68th founding anniversary of Vietnamese Red Cross Association (Nov. 23, 1946-2014), Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Tran Thi Lien, chairman of Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society about related issues.
Implementing Uncle Ho’s teachings, what significant activities did Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society do to follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples, madam?
Grasping Uncle Ho’s teachings, over the past years, Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society has steered its branches to hold significant models, movements and mobilizations such as voluntary blood donation, disaster control club, first aids, charity rice jar and among others.
Promoting the country’s charity and humanitarian tradition, what position was Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society affirmed in the role?
Upholding humanitarian work of Vietnamese Red Cross Association, over the past 38 years, Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society has gained a gigantic development and excellent dedication. These achievements are acknowledged and evaluated by high ranking prizes of the Party, State, provincial party committee and People’s Committee. Especially, Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society was awarded the third class Labor Order.
Together with local development, movements of Binh Duong provincial Red Cross Society have obtained positive changes. Position and role of this society have been gradually affirmed and consolidated.
In the initial period of establishment, the society attracted several hundreds of members but now the society has lured more than 151,000 members, 6,223 volunteer members, more than 8,100 youths, 232 cadres working at 346 grassroots levels.
Could you tell more about sparkling results the society wins in this year?
Movements of “Tet for the poor and dioxin victims”, granting Red Cross houses, blood donation and more have brought highlighted results of the provincial Red Cross Society at all levels. In the year of 2014, the movement of “Tet for the poor and dioxin victims” mobilizes and grants more than 40,000 gifts worth more than VND12bil to people in need.
From this movement, the society is chosen as a pilot unit of exchanging and sharing humanitarian activities with the poor inside and outside of the province and in Cambodia.
In terms of social work, the entire society mobilizes to newly build 36 Red Cross houses for families with especially difficult circumstances, help more than 41,000 cases, offer health check-ups for over 40,000 people. Meanwhile, the mobilization of “Every organization and individual attaches to a humanitarian address” supports and helps nearly 3,500 people in need with the total value of more than VND3.6bil.
In the coming time, what significant activities will the provincial Red Cross Society focus on to develop the Party and State’s humanitarian cause?
Entering the new period as well as promoting the done achievements over the past 4 decades, the society at all levels will focus on launching many activities and events with high results.
Accordingly, the society will concentrated on key activities such as healthcare, humanitarian blood donation and more.
Especially, the entire cadres, members, youths and volunteers will make greater efforts to excel the humanitarian cause entrusted by the Party and State, excel the provincial social welfare work, contribute to well complete Resolution of the 6th Binh Duong provincial Red Cross congress for the term of 2011-2016.
