After signing a joint plan for the 2008-2012 period, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee steered and launched action plans to its affiliates. Accordingly, the work of preventing and fighting against HIV/AIDS has been put into compulsory criteria of emulation movements at all levels.
In addition, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee in cooperation with the Center for HIV/AIDS Control implemented surveys to launch building of 6 anti HIV/AIDS models across Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An and Di An towns. Each model including 100 households and 10 key members has officially put into operation since 2009. These are key localities having positive movements in preventing and fighting against HIV/AIDS.
As a one localities being chosen as a pilot model, An Thanh ward Fatherland Front Committee in Thuan An town has chosen 100 households in team 1 and 2 at Thanh Hoa B residential area for its activity because the area has 15 drug users, 4 of whom are people living with HIV.
Since Nov. 2009, the ward anti-HIV/AIDS and self-control team has been established officially. Annually, the management board of this team holds meetings and promulgations on HIV/AIDS control for local households. In addition, the management board instructs ways of healthcare for families having members living with HIV.
Nguyen Ngoc Ha, vice chairman of the ward Fatherland Front Committee, said “After implementation of the model, cadres and people’s awareness on HIV/AIDS control has been improved. Many relatives of people living with HIV and even HIV sufferers arrive at the ward anti-HIV/AIDS and self-control team to ask for consultancies on healthcare…”.
In order to increase results of the anti-HIV/AIDS movement, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have set out plans and cooperated with various agencies such as Veterans’ Society, Women Union, Youth Union and so on to launch promulgations on HIV/AIDS control.
In addition, the units have spurred approaches and assistances for families having members living with HIV.
As a result, the ratio of local households joining in the anti-HIV/AIDS movements increases sharply with 98.89% in 2012 from 87.71% in 2009. Moreover, the entire province had 312 residential areas without social evils. Besides, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels held music shows and mobile film presentation sessions on HIV/AIDS control, luring over 500,000 audiences, offering 52,000 condoms and 480,000 leaflets… for people.
Until now, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee in cooperation with mass bodies and agencies has built 23 anti-HIV/AIDS clubs with the participation of 809 members, set up 9 drug treatment teams with 543 members, mobilized 200 people to implement HIV tests and so on.
