In recent years, thanks to attention from the Party, government, good responses from public servants, armed forces, enterprises, philanthropist and so on, the campaign for the poor in the province achieved encouraging results. - Sir, what is the significance of “The peak month for the poor"?
- “The peak month for the poor" will take place from Oct 17th to Nov 18th 2015. This activity aims to mobilize resources from the people to care for the poor. The campaign not only is a charity activity but also helps in improving behaviors towards poor people, expressing Vietnamese tradition of mutual love.

- Could you please tell us the results of the campaign for the poor in 9 months and plans for “The peak month for the poor"?
- The campaign “A day for the poor" was launched by Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in 2000. In Binh Duong, after over 15 implementation years, all levels of Provincial VFFC mobilized over VND1,161 billion. Total collection of Fund for the poor of all levels was more than VND128 billion, including VND72billion and $1,700 of provincial level; over VND25billion and $110 of districts, towns and city; more than VND31 billion of communes, wards, towns. In addition, all levels mobilized over VND1,033 billion to support directly subjects. During the first 9 months 2015, the province mobilized over VND10 billion.
As planed, by the end of 2015, especially during “The peak month for the poor", provincial VFFC at all levels will continue to mobilize contributions from enterprises, agencies, organizations, individuals. In 2016, Binh Duong will apply new poor standards, causing an increase in poor household rate. Therefore, the campaign “The peak month for the poor" will focus on constructing “great unity houses” for the poor to reduce the poor household rate. Mobilizing board of “A day for the poor" has prepared for activities to care for the poor, visits to social centers on occasion of Lunar New Year 2016.
- In your opinion, how to achieve high results from this movement?
- Provincial VFFC directed our branches to assign staff to aggressively encourage all people strata to contribute depending on their capacity. Our Standing Committee also instructed branches to manage and use funds strictly, publicize collections and disbursements; frequently renew mobilization forms; allocate and disburse funds timely, properly. The movements also received attention and concern of the Party, government, and assistance from agencies, sectors. In addition, we also universalized the movement among people through mass media.
- Sir, the collection will take care of the poor through which activities?
- Based on mobilized resources, Fund for the poor of all levels have carried out practical activities to care for the poor. Namely, during 15 years (2000-2015), we funded 134 heart surgeries for children; presented 8,577 “great unity houses” including 7,434 new houses and 203 repaired houses; supported poor household’s children to go to school… Thereby, poor people were given strengths to overcome difficulties, contributing to consolidating the great unity.
