Nguyen Thi Bay, chairwoman of Tan Phuoc Khanh Township’s elderly people society in Tan Uyen district is an enthusiastic and dynamic official, despite old age. Lastly, she was nominated to attend the 2nd national patriotic emulation congress held by the Vietnamese Elderly People Association in Ha Noi.
Over the years, Bay has encouraged many elderly people to join in the local Elderly People Society, lifting the total member up to 870. She said ‘I weekly meet heads of the sub-societies to solve shortcomings, so the units assure their activities and turn difficulties into advantages’.
To ensure health and joy for members, she and other members take exercise daily and hold excursions sometimes. In 2009, the society invited a delegation including doctors to offer free health check-up and medicines to poor members.
In addition, she is a businesswoman of Thanh Loc bamboo article workshop and member of the provincial Businesswomen Club. Thanks to the positions, she asks for help from donors to grant charity houses, saving books to the poor. Additionally, she and the township women union jointly have offered help to poor sisters.
More than 60 years old, with enthusiastic working spirit, she deserves a bright example for young generation. With such achievements, she was awarded an insignia “For the cause of taking care for elderly people’ and merit certificate by the Vietnamese Elderly People Association.
