Being not only capable, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Yen of Medical ward 1 under provincial General Hospital is but also an active Union cadre actively participating in activities, movements, especially voluntary healthcare for the poor.
Graduating in 2010, Dr. Yen was recruited by Emergency ward of provincial General Hospital. After a short time, she was transferred to Medical ward 1, where receives frequently severe illnesses. Dr. Yen has been known as a dedicated, conscientious and very close to patients. As a doctor, she usually encounters aggressive attitudes from patients’ families because of anxiousness. But she always explains calmly to patients and families. Therefore, some patients and families returned to the hospital to thank her.
Dr. Yen remembered: “When witnessing severe cases causing bleeding or death, I was obsessed. I still remember, there was a patient having severe illness and being too old, so the patient was not able to survive, although I tried very hard. Then I was sad and thought about the patient the whole month. We, doctors, can help patients go through critical situations, that is our happiness. My professional seniority is too young, sometimes mistakes are inevitable, but it is important to recognize mistakes to overcome and improve medical ethics".
Dr. Yen has taken part actively in Youth Union’s activities and movements, especially voluntary healthcare for the poor. By now, the number of her charitable healthcare trips is uncountable, because she is always ready to go for voluntary trips to the most distant areas.
Dr. Yen is continuing her study at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine to improve her profession. Currently, besides learning time at university, she continues to dedicate her time to works at the hospital. With great efforts, provincial General Hospital, Department of Health, and Youth Union commended Dr.Yen for successfully completing professional works as well as Union activities.
