Another year of happiness to ethnic communities

Organization of Party and authority of Binh Duong Province have taken special cares for poverty reduction and spiritual life improvement of ethnic communities for them to settle down and develop their household business.The ethnic communities have joint hands to preserve their identities in a diversified environment of ethnicity in the province.Poverty reduction to settle downUnder report of Office of Ethnic Community of Provincial People’s Committee, in 2013, Binh Duong has a population of 1,784,000 parted with 17,133 people of ethnic communities or 1% local population scattering across Dau Tieng, Phu Giao, and Tan Uyen. San Chi people preserve their traditions through chants and instruments The provincial authorities have demanded effective implementation of policies and decisions of the Party regarding ethnicity movements on the basis of grasping up Resolution of the 9th tenure Party regarding “promoting grand unity of the people for the targets of wealthy people, strong nation, society of equality, democracy, and civilization”.Thanks to support of capital, planting models, and technologies, local life of ethnic communities has been elevated.Employment structure of ethnic communities has been diversified with industrial production, handicraft, agriculture, services, and officers.On such basis, poverty has dramatically reduced bringing up happy and wealthy life. In Tan Uyen District, 1,830 people are allocated to 495 families, of which, 8 are evaluated as families in poverty.Mr. Pham Van Loi, Deputy Chair of Tan Uyen District People’s Committee informed that in 2013 the district has offered loans and other allowance policies to help the ethnic communities overcome poverty and settle down.Funding for clean water constructions was accounted for VND 133 million. Ethnic students have been offered loans of totally VND 106 million. VND 85 million has been funded to create jobs. Six families have been offered with charity house fixing and constructing.Ethnic communities in Dau Tieng District have eyed tremendous changes.Thanks to the care of the Party, the State and locality, they have made planting and husbandry transition to application of science to improve yields.Thus, the models of good economic production have emerged in terms of industrial plants and husbandry.Some household economic model could even resolve jobs to 20 popular employees and 90 seasonal workers with average annual interest of nearly VND 2 billion.“Previously, we lived in hardship. Luckily, the authority offered us plants and animals to develop household economy. Taking the motto of “many a little makes a mickle”, we have developed our own family economy. As we get richer, we shall help others too,” said Mrs. Thach.To improve spiritual enjoymentAside from capital funding, the province has issued thousands of medical insurance cards to families in poverty together with policies for all-level children of ethnic communities to satisfy the schooling needs of students in remote areas.National pivotal medical programs have been implemented to any part of the localities with all hamlets and quarters in the province having medical agents while spacious medical stations have been constructed to satisfy the medical and health checking needs of ethnic communities, especially those in remote areas.Through those programs, the decisions of the Party regarding economic development together with improvement of the grand national people unit.The restoration and preservation of ethnic identities have been concentrated.And the championship of tug-of-war and pillar-pushing and festival of ethnic culture and sports are the evidence.The annual festival depicts identical marks of each ethnic community through the performances and sports.Besides, each locality has helped to restore cultural identities of the ethnic communities including their custom.In Minh Hoa of Dau Tieng District, where Khmer people are very populous, the preservation of language, clothing, and practice has been upheld. They might not use traditional clothing in daily life but preserve for special events.As for San Chi people in Tam Lap Commune in Phu Giao District, their spring festival holds the vital role in wishing for happiness and higher seasonal yields.The festival includes rituals and activities namely dragon and lion dances, performances, tossing, blind-folded drumming, swinging, pillar pushing, iron ball tossing, tug-of-war, etc.“We are so worried for our traditions to be faded away as seeing our younger generations are so neglect of preserving the value.
