Anti-blue ear disease measures stepped up

As announced, the provincial People’s Committee decided to announce blue-ear pig epidemic in Phu Giao district. Accordingly, local functional agencies have urgently conducted measures to control the epidemic.

Blue-ear pig disease hits 4 localities 

Blue-ear pig disease has so far broken out in 4 out of 7 districts and townships of Binh Duong province. Of these, Phu Giao district’s 7/11 communes and townships have appeared the epidemic. They include An Linh, An Thai, Phuoc Sang, Tam Lap, Vinh Hoa, Phuoc Vinh, An Binh with 570,000 infected pigs, of which 277 ones were culled. As of Aug. 5, the epidemic has been reported in districts of Ben Cat, Tan Uyen and Thuan An.

Ta Trong Khang, vice head of the provincial Veterinary Bureau, said the provincial steering board of epidemic control in cattle and poultry asked veterinary stations to conduct urgent measures against the epidemic and set out tough settlements in infected areas. Besides, the stations were asked to monitor the transport, slaughter and trade of pigs.

Measures against blue-ear epidemic boosted

To reach efficiency in fighting the epidemic, the provincial People’s Committee just issued the Instruction No.15 on boosting anti-blue ear epidemic measures. Accordingly, promulgations on the epidemic are boosted to raise residents’ awareness. Besides, training courses on sterilization against the epidemic are opened for local residents and vaccination are focused to increase resistance for pigs.

Khang added that the local Veterinary Bureau has guided localities to curb the spread of the epidemic. Accordingly, the transport, slaughter and trade of pigs in infected areas will be banned. Besides, veterinary stations across localities will monitor the transport, slaughter and trade of pigs around the clock. “The bureau has enough chemicals, medicines, facilities to prevent the epidemic”, said Khang.

Tran Van Nam, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee requested the local department of Trade and Industry to cooperate with relevant units to control markets in a bid to prevent and solve the transport, slaughter and trade of pigs of unclear origin.

Possibly speaking, with well preparation, relevant units in the province are ready for the fight against the epidemic. In addition, to reach the highest results, aside from the preparation from functional agencies, local residents’ awareness and responsibility are the crucial element in the fight.
