Anti-corruption work continues to be strengthened

On December 24, at the Hanoi endpoint, Mr. Doan Hong Phong, the Government Inspector General, chaired a national online conference to review five years of implementing the Anti-Corruption Law. At Binh Duong endpoint, Mai Hung Dung, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; and representatives of departments, branches and People's Committees of districts and cities took part in the online conference.

After five years of implementing the Anti-Corruption Law, there has been a decisive and stringent effort in detecting and addressing corruption, leading to significant and rapid progress. Corruption cases brought to trial ensure the right people, the right crimes, no bias, no criminals are left out, and are highly appreciated and agreed upon by public opinion and the people. 

People's courts at all levels have accepted and tried more than 2,900 corruption cases, involving nearly 7,600 defendants. People's Courts at all levels declared that the total amount of corrupt money and assets (converted in cash) to be recovered was nearly 4,600 billion VND; there are 149 cases with nearly 400 defendants who remedied the consequences, returned the money and assets embezzled with more than 222 billion VND. 

Mai Hung Dung, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, delivered a speech in Binh Duong.

At the conference themed "Prevention, Detection, and Handling of Corruption," Mr. Mai Hung Dung stated that the corruption prevention solutions implemented by Binh Duong province are generally synchronized and effective. The Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee have implemented well, openly, transparently, and associated with administrative reform according to the provisions of the Law on Anti-Corruption. 

During the period, provincial authorities conducted 142 inspections of responsibilities for anti-corruption at 313 units. The province identified and addressed limitations in task deployment, while also guiding units to properly implement legal regulations on anti-corruption and misconduct.
