Appeal to support those affected by typhoon Yagi launched

In recent days, typhoon Yagi has made landfall in the northern provinces with the strongest winds of levels 13 - 14, gusting up to levels 16 - 17. The storm's circulation, which affected a wide area across the northern region (including 26 provinces and cities), has caused heavy rains, landslides and severe damage to both lives and property.

Although typhoon Yagi has dissipated, its aftermath continues bringing heavy rains, floods and landslides to the northern provinces. In several localities, floodwaters have risen, causing deep inundation, landslides that buried passenger cars, collapsed bridges and paralyzed traffic. Some of the most affected areas include Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Lao Cai, Son La, Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, and Cao Bang…Many families have lost their loved ones, possessions and are now living in dire conditions and in urgent need of community assistance.

In order to support and share difficutiles with those heavily affected by typhoon Yagi and to uphold the spirit of unity and mutual support, with the values of "the good leaves cover the torn ones" and the spirit of “sharing meals and clothes”, provincial Fatherland Front Committee-provincial Standing Committee for Relief Mobilization has called for officials, civil servants, workers, armed forces, agencies, units, organizations, businesses and donors in and out of the province to assist those suffering from the aftermath of typhoon Yagi. The community's practical support, both materially and spiritually, will be a significant source of encouragement and a deeply humane gesture to help those in the storm-hit areas remain resilient, quickly stabilize their lives and recover production.
