The US Agency for International Development Health Policy Initiative (USAID/HPI) will showcase its results at a workshop from 8am on August 14 at the International Convention Center, 11 Le Hong Phong, Hanoi.
Over the past five years, USAID/HPI provided training to more than 3,200 people and hundreds of local institutions on a wide range of topics including reduction of stigma and discrimination, policy advocacy and development, HIV prevention care and support, and health system strengthening.
It has contributed to 13 new and revised legal and policy documents related to HIV and AIDS that brought about positive changes; for example, sex workers are no longer sent to detention centers.
As many as 150 representatives of government, civil society organizations, and other partners are expected to share project results and lessons learned. Besides, it will include brief talks by beneficiaries, presentation and discussion of recommendations for HIV/AIDS-related legal and policy development over the next five years, and opportunities to view graphic and multimedia displays on project achievements.
During the event, partners and beneficiaries will meet with government representatives and media to share personal stories of the project’s impact on HIV/AIDS in the nation./.
