The Audit Board of Indonesia (ABI), which boasts expertise in environmental auditing, will exchange knowledge, experience and joint studies on environmental auditing with the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV), said ABI Chairman Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara.

In an interview granted to Vietnam News Agency on the sidelines of the 52nd Governing Board Meeting as part of the 14th Assembly of the Asian Associations of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) in Hanoi on September 18, he said the ABI and other ASOSAI members will wholeheartedly support the SAV in its role as ASOSAI Chair for the 2018-2021 tenure.

After 21-year membership of ASOSAI with many positive contributions, the SAV’s assumption of the role as ASOSAI Chair for 2018-2021 reflects the acknowledgement of the member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) as well as the international community for the Vietnamese agency’s efforts and contributions, he said.

As ASOSAI Chair, the SAV will play an important role in developing the capacity of the member SAIs, ASEANSAI and even ASOSAI.

ASOSAI has drawn out a strategic action plan and it is hoped that once Vietnam undertakes ASOSAI Chair, this plan will be implemented effectively and reap successes, according to Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara.

Regarding the theme “Environmental Auditing for Sustainable Development” of ASOSAI 14, the Indonesian official said environmental protection for sustainable development is of great significance as it is part of the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development.

As both the ABI and the SAV are members of ASOSAI’s working group on environmental auditing, he expressed his hope that with the SAV becoming ASOSAI Chair for 2018-2021 will actively support the two agencies’ activities in the working group.
