With duties of counseling provincial Department of Health on administrative functions, managing administrative foodstuff affairs, the Branch overcame gradually obstacles and completed its missions through provincial furnishing plus commitments to effective working of its staff.

Medicine Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Deputy Head of provincial branch of Food Safety & Hygiene informed that in 2012, 967 inspection teams including 785 inter-branch teams were set up to examine 17,273 sites, which had 12,781 sites reaching food safety and hygiene standards. Also within last year, there were 4 cases of food poisoning with 142 sufferers and 2 dead persons. Actual incidence was lower than target incidence in 2012 (7.98 cases/ 100,000 people < 9 cases/ 100,000 people).
Additionally, the Branch often monitors, inspects, guide foodstuff producing, trading businesses to guarantee food safety and hygiene standards such as clear foodstuff origins, hygienic food process, labor safety as well as periodical health check for food processors, and training of food safety, hygiene, poisoning…
To consumers, the Branch promotes spreading information, education in order to draw people’s attention to these issues. People’s knowledge of food safety and hygiene has been improving positively, poor quality foodstuff were restricted simultaneously on the market.
Branch of Food Safety & Hygiene campaigned for inhibition of food poisoning at workplace kitchens. The Brach also counseled provincial People’s Committee on directive no. 03/2010/CT-UBND issuance about food safety and hygiene.
