Binh Duong Province is under pressure of environment protection due to its industrial development. Currently 28 industrial parks are operating in 8,751 of land. By 2020, Binh Duong would have about 31 industrial parks and 23 industrial clusters with thousands of enterprises pouring out at an estimated 240,000 cubic meters of waste water a day. Industrial waste water will hit 288,000 cubic meters a day by 2020.
In 2009, the first observatory system was test tried in 6 industrial parks with technical guidance to enterprises. The observatory devices are connected to operation center and stations, which, as assessed by Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen of MONRE, were the first steps in environment protection and in monitoring waste emerged.
After years of implementation, the system has officially started with 24/7 camera system to monitor operation of waste water treatment with 21 sampling devices that can make rapid test of COD, TSS, pH, EC, and water flow.
The system is promising for environment protection activities, contributing to sustainable development targets of Binh Duong Province.
